ORS began in 2012 when our first two TRIO grants were funded by the U.S. Department of Education – one Upward Bound Classic grant for Venus High School and one Upward Bound Math & Science grant for Alvarado High School. TRIO programs are designed to provide outreach and student services to individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds. Since 2012, ORS has grown and now operates five federal TRIO grants: two Upward Bound Classic programs, two Upward Bound Math & Science programs, and an Educational Opportunity Center program funded to serve Johnson County.
