James Jesse is a founding member of Opportunity Resource Services and the current director for Educational Opportunity Center and the Upward Bound Math and Science programs. Originally from Eastland, Texas, James earned his Bachelor of Arts in English and Philosophy at Hardin-Simmons University.
Like many of our students and clients, James was a low-income first-generation individual. Seeing firsthand the effects that education had on poverty, he decided to take action and better the lives of those around him. Prior to writing the grant that co-founded ORS in 2010, James worked in a Student Support Services program where he found his calling helping people achieve their personal educational goals aspirations. James has over fifteen years of professional experience working with students in budgeting, finance, grant development, and grant compliance. James continually strives to leave a legacy of opportunity by presenting pathways to success in higher education for disadvantaged students.
When James is outside of the office, he enjoys spending life with his wife and three kids but is always looking for new opportunities to expand the impact and reach of our organization.
“I believe education is a path out of poverty for anyone who wants to walk that road.”
